IT for accounting and tax firms that can’t afford a down day in April
Your firm runs on QuickBooks Desktop, UltraTax CS and ProSeries, and on the trust of clients who hand you their Social Security numbers, bank accounts and payroll. We know those applications and how accounting firms work, from two-person tax practices to multi-office CPA firms. We keep your systems running through tax season and protect client data the way the FTC and the IRS expect.
What it costs when IT gets in the way
The March server crash
Ten days before the deadline, the server holding your tax software won’t start. Preparers sit idle, clients keep calling, and you’re filing extensions you never planned on. Those hours don’t come back.
The QuickBooks question nobody has answered
Intuit stopped selling new QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premier subscriptions in 2024, and the 2023 versions lost support in May 2026. Your clients are asking whether to stay or move, and your own copies may be on versions nobody has checked.
The WISP you’re supposed to have
Tax preparers are required to keep a written information security plan. If your insurer or a client asked to see yours tomorrow, would it describe what your firm actually does?
What we handle for accounting firms
- Installation, updates and troubleshooting for QuickBooks Desktop, UltraTax CS and ProSeries
- Multi-user setups, so staff work in the same files from the office or from home
- Tax-season readiness: servers, workstations, printers, scanners and backups checked before January
- Secure remote access for partners and seasonal staff
- Secure ways to exchange files with clients instead of email attachments
- Multi-factor authentication, drive encryption and tested backups
- Onboarding and offboarding, so seasonal access ends when the season does
- Email security and phishing protection in Microsoft 365
From a two-person practice to a multi-office firm
We understand how accounting firms work, whatever their size: the crunch from January to April, the extension season after it, client portals, scanning, and the handful of applications nobody can do without. Smaller practices get the same security as larger firms, sized to what they need. Larger firms with their own IT staff bring us in for security, compliance and projects alongside their team.
The FTC Safeguards Rule and your WISP
The FTC Safeguards Rule treats tax preparers, and many accounting firms, as financial institutions. That means a written information security plan, a named person responsible for it, multi-factor authentication, encryption, and a plan for what happens after a breach. IRS Publication 4557 sets the baseline every paid preparer should meet: antivirus, firewalls, multi-factor authentication, backups, drive encryption and a VPN for remote access. We put those controls in place, write them into a plan that matches how your firm really works, and keep the evidence current, so the plan you sign is the plan you follow.
Frequently asked questions
Can you support QuickBooks Desktop, UltraTax CS and ProSeries on the same network?
Yes. Most of the firms we support run several of them side by side. We keep them updated, backed up and working for every user who needs them, in the office or remotely.
Do we have to leave QuickBooks Desktop?
Not necessarily. Some firms have good reasons to stay. We’ll look at the versions you and your clients run and give you a plain answer: upgrade, stay, or plan a move.
Do we really need a WISP?
If you prepare tax returns, yes. The FTC Safeguards Rule requires a written information security program, and the IRS reminds preparers of it every year. We help you write one that reflects what you actually do, and keep it current.
What happens if something breaks during tax season?
Managed clients are covered by the response times in their support agreement. If you’re not a client and you’re facing a security emergency, call (860) 512-7255.
What to expect
Who this is for
CPA firms, tax practices, bookkeepers and payroll services, in eastern Connecticut, Rhode Island and south-central Massachusetts, and remotely nationwide.
How we price
Every agreement is built from the services you actually need, so you’re not paying for a bundle you don’t use. We value partnership with our clients over making a buck. We also have to make a buck to keep delivering that value. So we look for the arrangement that works for both of us.
What happens next
- We reply and set up a 15-minute call at a time that suits you.
- We talk through what you have, what’s at risk and what it should cost.
- If we’re a good fit, we send a written proposal, including any assessment work and what it will cost.
Let’s talk. A real conversation, not a sales call.
Fifteen minutes is usually enough to know whether we’re the right fit. If we’re not, we’ll tell you — and point you to someone who is.
